Support column is an extremely common feature in older houses. While they can be easily replaced with by a steel column, chances are that you may prefer to save that cost. Hence, there is a demand for ideas about how such columns can be incorporated without them actually looking like columns.

·         You can do shelving which involves the creation of shelves around the support column and also be created between multiple columns. If the column is finished in the same material as the shelving, it would appear as if the column has visually disappeared even though it still is there.
·         Another effective and impressive method is by the creating dividing walls. Using a dividing wall, even a partial one, space can be split into two distinct spaces. Since it is larger than the column itself, it acts as an excellent place to bury electrical, create storage. You can even place your television set or your fireplace there if you have one.
